For the school year, 2007-2008, a Classical Conversations community opened its doors in North Durham, NC.  We offered Foundations and Essentials programs, for the elementary grades and Challenge A, for the middle school.  This year, we will start our fourth year with Challenges all the way up to Challenge II and take the middle school students further along their educational journey.

Classical Conversations communities are programs run throughout the country by home educators for home educators.  It originated with Leigh Bortins.

CC is a supportive program for families to educate within a framework of accountability and encouragement.  By using the Classical model, this program presents all subjects under the authority of God's Word, the Holy Bible.

During the traditional school year, students meet once a week with their tutor to share the assignments.  We meet for six seminars, each lasting approximately an hour.  In Challenge A, we study the following together:

Saxon 8/7

Biology

Introduction to Rhetoric
Latin
Institute for Excellence in Writing/Newbery Award Novels
Geography
