What to do over the summer!
Have fun! and spend lot's of time outdoors and with family. That's my best advice because in August you will become a bookworm.
If you are so inclined...
Trace maps. Get a good atlas and trace anything that looks fun. Trace countries, trace continents, trace the world. Then draw from looking. Make it fun because we will conquer the world very soon.
Read the appendix of your Latin 4 book. Each conjugation and declension paradigm must be memorized this year, so any familiarity is helpful. Don't make your students try to understand it unless you are going to sit down with them and help them, just practice memorizing the endings and we will put all the pieces of the puzzle together in August.
Keep practicing Math. The first 40 lessons in Saxon 8/7 are review. I like it when the students gain confidence in Math and then are ready to face the more challenging sections of the book.
Read science books, nature journals. Read, read, read.
Pick some writing competitions to enter. My favorite website is www.homeschoolwriters.com
Read the novels aloud this summer and discuss them with your child. This is the only time you would use Words Aptly Spoken as a resource.
And don't forget...have fun! and build relationships that will need that security once we get into work mode next year.
Let's Get Together!
